Open Data Day Global 2019

The Open Data Day 2019 conference is an opportunity for gathering relevant experts and representatives of institutions and executive authorities, as well as civil society and IT activists and activists.

Platform for sharing experiences and practice where together we search for solutions and tools for accessing public data to maximally hinder any attempt to spread misinformation. At the same time, while on the eve of the elections for the European Parliament, which we call the most costly elections so far, we are opening up the issue of political marketing on social networks – in which more and more amounts are invested and without any regulation or effective monitoring of where the money comes from and how it is spent.

The opening of data contributes to the fight against corruption and enables citizens to participate more in the creation of public policies. There is a legal framework, and in the new digital era, there are numerous online platforms and applications that can make free access to information easier and more economical than ever before.

Why is it so difficult to get open data from Croatian public authorities, why do they usually want to charge them separately, will the Open Data Policy change that or the Regulation on Reuse of Information Information announces that we will have to pay open access to public data?

We will try to answer these questions on Friday, March 1, at 10 am, on the first panel of Open Data Days at the Zagreb HUB385 in Petračićeva Street 6.

The panel is then dedicated to political marketing on social networks, where more and more amounts are invested, and without any regulation or effective monitoring of where the money comes from and how it is spent.

The program ends on Friday with the screening of the documentary film The Cleaners.

Over the weekend there will be an Open Data Day 2019 Datathon

A weekend datathon is a chance to socialize with the exchange of experience and practice that brings people of different skills – informatics, hackers, developers – to a common task, using #opendata to address the challenges of transparency and openness of government.

Create open source projects and open data on eContent results, try API Parlametra – applications for monitoring the work of the Croatian Parliament, engage in research on the financing of Croatian associations or the availability of a medical breakdown service in Croatian hospitals.

Through the platform “We have the right to know” we collect information about lawsuits against journalists and media, we connect politicians from the Mozaik database to other open sources (WikiData), we have created a scraper that has taken documents from all the working bodies from 2000 to date, and we look forward and your project proposals.

Over the weekend there will be an Open Data Day 2019 Datathon
